Playing through the Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour really brought back some serious nostalgia for me. The classic, fast-paced shooter mechanics feel just as snappy as they did back in the nineties, and the added fifth episode fits perfectly with the original level design. While the graphics remain true to the retro aesthetic, the lighting engine enhancements make everything look much cleaner on a modern PC setup. It is a must-play for any fan of old-school shooters.
However, I do wish they had updated the enemy AI a bit more, as it feels pretty dated by today’s standards. That said, the new voice lines from Duke himself are a hilarious touch, and the ability to toggle between the original and remastered visuals is a great feature. If you enjoy chaotic, funny, and challenging gameplay without all the fluff of modern tactical shooters, you will have a blast. This serves as a fantastic tribute to one of gaming’s biggest icons.
