Chronos: Before the Ashes provides a fascinating twist on the soulslike genre by incorporating a unique aging mechanic. Every time your character dies, they grow older, which fundamentally changes how your stats evolve throughout the journey. The atmosphere is incredibly thick and mysterious, pulling players into a world that feels both ancient and dangerous. While the combat isn’t as punishing as other genre giants, the clever puzzles and rewarding exploration make it a standout title for anyone who enjoys atmospheric adventure games.
Playing this title on my PC was a great experience, as the stylized graphics hold up very well even years after release. The controls are responsive, and the way your physical appearance shifts as you get older is a brilliant touch that keeps you invested in the story. It is not an overly long game, but the replay value is decent if you want to try different character builds. If you love deep lore and challenging bosses, this is definitely worth your time.
