X-Blades is definitely a title that takes me back to the golden era of arcade-style hack and slash adventures. The combat is incredibly fast, and there is something satisfying about chaining combos with Ayumi’s signature blades. While the story won’t win any major awards, the sheer spectacle of the boss battles kept me glued to my screen. If you are playing on a PC, the controls feel tight once you get used to the movement mechanics.
Even though it has aged quite a bit since its initial release, the vibrant art style still gives it a unique flair that stands out. I enjoyed experimenting with the different magic spells, which add a nice layer of depth to the otherwise straightforward gameplay loop. It is not the deepest game in the genre, but for a quick burst of action, it hits the mark perfectly. If you enjoy retro-leaning action titles, this is well worth a look.
