Rune Classic takes me right back to the golden age of third-person action games. The combat feels surprisingly weighty and visceral, even by today’s standards, especially when you start dismembering enemies with Viking weaponry. While the graphics definitely show their age, the atmosphere and the sheer satisfaction of lopping off limbs keep me coming back. It is a fantastic trip down memory lane that holds up well on a modern PC if you appreciate classic dungeon-crawling experiences.
The story is simple but effective, casting you as a young warrior seeking revenge against dark forces. I really enjoy the environmental puzzles that break up the hack-and-slash gameplay, making the world feel like more than just a corridor. Controls are responsive enough once you get the hang of the momentum, and the soundtrack really sets the tone for a gritty mythological adventure. If you missed out on this cult hit back in the day, it is absolutely worth a playthrough.
