Chrono Trigger remains the gold standard for RPGs on any platform. The time-traveling narrative is incredibly inventive, and the multiple endings provide insane replay value that keeps me coming back every few years. The art style, led by Akira Toriyama, still looks vibrant and gorgeous even on modern screens. While I’ve played many modern emulators on my PC, nothing quite captures the charm of the original hardware experience when playing this masterpiece.
The turn-based combat system is snappy and avoids the tedious grind found in most other titles from the early nineties. I love how the enemies are visible on the map instead of relying on annoying random encounters. Every character brings such a unique personality to the team, and the soundtrack is easily one of the best in gaming history. If you are building your Super Nintendo Collection, this is the absolute must-have game that defines the entire console generation.
