Doom & Destiny Worlds is a surprisingly deep mix of traditional turn-based combat and open-world survival building. I spent hours just gathering materials and setting up my base, which feels incredibly rewarding as you progress through the weird, hilarious story. The humor is classic for the series, keeping things lighthearted even when you are struggling to survive against bizarre monsters. If you enjoy games that don’t take themselves too seriously but still offer plenty of mechanical depth, this title is a perfect fit.
The performance on my PC is smooth, and the pixel art aesthetic really pops during exploration. I love the freedom to build tools and structures, which adds a fresh layer of strategy to the usual RPG formula. The controls are intuitive, and the inventory management isn’t as tedious as in other survival games. It’s got great replay value because you can experiment with so many different character builds to tackle the various challenges across the different islands.
