Niffelheim is a beautifully dark survival game that really captures the aesthetic of Norse mythology. I spent hours building my fortress and fighting off waves of undead enemies, and the progression system feels very rewarding. The hand-drawn graphics are top-tier, giving the world a unique, gritty atmosphere that stands out in the genre. While the learning curve can be steep for new players, once you get the hang of the crafting loops on your PC, it becomes incredibly addictive and fun.

The level of detail in the cavernous underground exploration is impressive, forcing you to constantly manage your resources and stamina. I love how the game blends survival mechanics with classic side-scrolling combat. Though some of the boss fights can feel a bit punishing, the replay value remains high because you can always try a different character build. If you enjoy games that don’t hold your hand and offer a dark, challenging atmosphere, this is definitely worth picking up for your library.
