Reviews of the PC version of “L.A. Rush” by the general public and critics are, on the whole, mixed or predominantly Positive. Both players and critics agree that this is a title that lacks appeal within the arcade racing genre. Although the game offers a huge, true-to-life map of Los Angeles and a convincing sense of speed, it struggles to hold its own against fierce competition from contemporary rivals such as the “Need for Speed” series and “Midnight Club”.
The PC version of “L.A. Rush” failed to capture the thrilling appeal of its predecessor, “San Francisco Rush”, and received consistently mediocre reviews from critics and players alike. They viewed the game as a superficial copy of “Need for Speed: Underground”. Whilst critics often praise the astonishing accuracy of the sprawling map of Los Angeles, the sunny atmosphere and the satisfying, arcade-style physics in car crashes, the praise stops there.
