Calico is easily one of the most relaxing experiences I have played in a long time. The game centers around rebuilding a magical café, and the pastel-colored aesthetic is absolutely charming. Interacting with the various animals, especially the giant cats you can ride around on, is incredibly satisfying. While the physics can be a little bit janky at times, the overall gameplay loop of decorating, cooking, and meeting new villagers feels like a warm hug for any fan of cozy simulation games.
Performance on my PC has been pretty solid, even with all the cute decorations I have crammed into my shop. I love how much creative freedom you get when customizing your character and your cafe space. It isn’t a complex high-stakes RPG, but it doesn’t try to be. If you want a low-stress game to unwind with after a long day, this is a fantastic choice that keeps me coming back for more decorating sessions.
