Bulletstorm remains one of the most creative shooters I have ever played. The “Skillshot” system is incredibly satisfying, as it rewards you for getting creative with your kills rather than just clicking heads. Kicking enemies into cactus plants or pulling them into electrical hazards never gets old. While the story is pure B-movie cheese, the vulgar humor and high-octane action make it a blast from start to finish. If you enjoy fast-paced arcade shooters that don’t take themselves too seriously, this title is a must-play experience.
The port to PC runs surprisingly well, even on older hardware, keeping the frame rates steady during the most chaotic segments. Visually, the vibrant color palette and unique alien world designs still stand out today, aging much better than many of its gritty, brown-tinted contemporaries. The controls feel snappy and responsive, which is essential for pulling off those complex combos. It is a shame we haven’t seen a full-blown sequel, but the base game still holds up perfectly for anyone looking for unadulterated carnage.
