Blood 2 The Chosen: A Cult Classic FPS Revisited

Stepping back into the shoes of Caleb in Blood 2 The Chosen is such a nostalgic rush. While the transition from the original game’s sprite-based aesthetic to a full 3D engine was a bit rocky back in the day, the gunplay remains incredibly satisfying. The arsenal is massive, and there is nothing quite like blowing away cultists with the signature flare gun or dual pistols. It is a wild ride that any fan of retro shooters should experience at least once on their PC system.

Even with its known bugs and quirky physics, the atmosphere in this game is second to none. The dark, occult-themed levels are packed with personality, and the witty one-liners from the protagonist never get old. I found that modern source ports really help clean up the performance issues, making it much more playable today. It is definitely a flawed gem, but the high-octane action and unique levels keep me coming back for another playthrough whenever I need some old-school chaos.
