Joint Operations: Typhoon Rising really brings back the golden age of massive multiplayer combat. Back when this first hit the PC, the sheer scale of the maps felt groundbreaking. I still love coordinating with teammates to take down objectives, as the gunplay remains surprisingly snappy and fun even by today’s standards. It might look a bit dated now, but for nostalgia seekers and fans of tactical war games, it is an absolute blast that still holds up quite well.
The gameplay loop is incredibly addictive, especially when you get into a full server where everyone is actually using the squad mechanics. While the graphics certainly show their age, the performance is rock-solid, and it runs smoothly on almost anything. I find myself coming back to this title whenever I want a break from modern, over-complicated shooters. It is a genuine classic that laid the groundwork for many of the large-scale tactical games we enjoy playing online nowadays.
