Way of the Samurai 4 is honestly one of the most unique sandbox experiences I have ever played. The freedom to choose your own path—whether you want to be a hero, a villain, or just fool around in the town—is unmatched. While the graphics show their age, the quirky humor and deep combat system keep things entertaining. It’s a total cult classic that doesn’t take itself too seriously, making it a blast for anyone who loves open-ended historical games.
I finally picked this up on PC and the controls feel much better than I expected. Even though the port has some limitations, the sheer replay value keeps me coming back to try different endings and factions. If you enjoy games with bizarre side quests and a rewarding sword-fighting loop, you really shouldn’t sleep on this title. It is definitely janky at times, but that is part of the charm that makes this series so special.
